Geokaun is located at Feaghmaan West, Valentia Island, Co. Kerry, V23KV62.
You can also search ‘Geokaun Mountain’ on any maps app.Directions from the ferry/Knightstown:
Exit the car & passenger ferry and turn right.
Drive up through the village and at the ‘Y’ junction take the right road.
Continue for 2.7km. After the wooded area take a sharp left.
Then take the next right.
Continue on this road for 1.7km.
Geokaun Mountain entrance will be on your right.
Directions from Portmagee/the bridge:
Cross the bridge and take the next left at the ‘T’ junction.
Continue for 1.5km and take a right.
Continue for 4km and Geokaun Mountain entrance will be on your left.

There are 4 car parks at various points, including the summit. So, you don’t need to miss out on any views if you need to stay in your car.
Please note if you want to see the Cliffs, there is a short 300m walk from the car park to the viewing deck. It’s a relatively flat walk. -
The loop walk is approximately 1.5km long. There are 2 other shorter walks to Miner’s View and to the Cliff viewing deck.

There are over 50 information panels about local history, folklore, wildlife, sea birds, the Skellig Islands, and more.
Picnic tables for al fresco meals.
A small summer food shop selling coffee, tea, water, and treats.
A photo opportunity under the Wild Atlantic Way sign near the summit.

Yes, we have several picnic tables at various spots. Check the large map near the entrance to find them. You can have a meal with a view!

For the summer months, we open a small shop near the entrance selling tea, coffee, water, soft drinks, ice cream, chocolate, and crisps. Everything you need for your walk or picnic!

There is a bathroom beside the small shop near the entrance. It is only open when the shop is open (during summer months). Please keep this in mind before you visit.

The cliff viewing deck has railings. However, adults must supervise children they have brought with them.

There is no limit to time spent in one day.

Check the weather conditions before coming, as they can change. A rainproof jacket is a good idea.

Yes, dogs are welcome if they are on a lead.

At Geokaun Mountain & Cliffs we follow Met Éireann protocols during periods of high winds and other hazardous weather conditions. Occasionally we may have to close due to weather warnings. If you are unsure, please check our social media platforms for updates, and there will be signage at the entrance.
